VentureOhio’s number one goal is to ensure there is adequate capital available to support high-potential companies in Ohio. VentureOhio supports the creation of one or more Ohio-based fund-of-funds that prioritize the growth of early-stage companies.

Foster a Collaborative Statewide Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

VentureOhio will serve as a resource for Ohio's entrepreneurial community, and promote and facilitate collaboration between economic resources, universities, state resources, and entrepreneurs.

Mark is a co-founder and partner at Drive Capital. Before co-founding the Columbus-based VC firm, Mark was the Interim Chief Investment Officer and President of JobsOhio, a private, nonprofit corporation leading Ohio’s job creation efforts. Prior to JobsOhio, Mark was a partner at Silicon Valley-based Sequoia Capital for 12 years, where he led investments in Linkedin (LKND – NYSE), MarkLogic, Cast Iron (IBM), and FunnyOrDie.com. Prior to Sequoia, Mark was the Chairman and CEO of CKS Group (CKSG – NASDAQ) and a founding member of Apple France.

Rich is a co-founder and managing partner at NCT Ventures. Before co-founding the Columbus-based VC firm, Rich was the founder, CEO and Chairman of Digital Storage, Inc. and SubmitOrder.com and co-founder and lead investor of many other successful ventures. Rich has served on several nonprofit boards, and was a co-founder and developer of the Center for Entrepreneurship at The Ohio State University, where he served as a board member and taught undergraduate, MBA and Executive MBA courses on entrepreneurship.

Tony is a co-founder and chairman of Queen City Angels. Prior to founding the Cincinnati-based angel group, Tony was a serial entrepreneur, co-founding several companies and non-profit business development organizations.  Tony serves on several non-profit boards, including the Angel Capital Association.

Will is a managing director at Draper Triangle Ventures.  Prior to his role at the midwest-based VC firm, Will implemented and ran the Ohio Third Frontier’s Central Ohio Entrepreneurial Signature Program at TechColumbus (now Rev1 Ventures) as CEO of Investments and VP of Venture Development. Will  has over 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur, CEO, startup advisor, and preseed/seed private equity manager.

Karl Elderkin

Nominating and Governance Committee Chair

Karl is the founder and managing partner at Athenian Venture Partners. Before founding the Athens-based VC firm, Karl was co-head of the VC arm of Generics Group, PLC, an England-based technology consultancy, and prior to that, spent several years in engineering, manufacturing and capital investment management. Karl has led, co-led and participated in numerous IPOs and strategic acquisitions and serves on the board of directors of several early-stage companies including Manta Media, Prioria Robotics, and Sendio. 

Dan Fleming

Dan Fleming

Dan began his private equity career in 1996 and joined River Cities in 2001.  Upon the generational transition of River Cities, his partners elected him to assume leadership within the firm, and he is now President of the management company.
